Tomb mounds

The burial mounds on the Regte Heide originate from the Bronze Age (c. 1750 BC). One burial mound has a ring wall with dry ditch. Grave mounds were used as burial places. It is suspected that these mounds were used not only to give the dead a final resting place, but also for worship.

The burial mounds in this nature reserve were first excavated in 1935 and then reconstructed. Around 5 burial mounds, the post wreaths known from the excavations were restored. Visit our Heemkunduseum in Goirle for detailed information on the burial mounds.
