On 18 April and 3 May 2026, the Annetje van Puijenbroek Kapel at Cultureel Centrum Jan van Besouw in Goirle will host the musical performance Hymns of Hope, Elvis: Gospel & Roots. An atmospheric live production in which gospel, rhythm & blues and powerful ballads come together in a warm and contemporary tribute to Elvis Presley.

Hymns of Hope is not a standard Elvis tribute. The show focuses on Elvis' musical roots: gospel and rhythm & blues. Music that is hopeful, warm and sincere, and that still connects today. The show is performed by a live band, a lead vocal and a gospel choir that fills the chapel with rich harmonies and inspiration.

The production is an initiative of Peter Schijvens, in collaboration with Dave Hanhart. Both have shared a great love for the music of Elvis Presley since childhood. That in 2014 to 2016 we had several performances across the country with Respect Elvis. This performance was a walk through Elvis' early years to the end of his career. That shared fascination with his voice, his sound and his musical roots is the basis for Hymns of Hope. Not as a nostalgic look back, but as a personal and contemporary interpretation in which singing together, emotion and musicality are central.
This personal inspiration is clearly felt in the performance. Hymns of Hope takes the audience back to the golden age of soul, gospel and rock and roll, but gives it a contemporary interpretation. The intimate setting of the chapel provides a direct connection between musicians and audience, ensuring that the music is not only heard, but actually experienced.

The production is supported by musicians and choir members from the region. During rehearsals in Goirle and Oisterwijk, they work intensively on ensemble playing, dynamics and timbre. The aim is clear: to create a performance that touches, inspires and connects.

Tickets for Hymns of Hope on 18 April and 3 May 2026 are available via the Jan van Besouw website. The visual material accompanying this production also includes a QR code that leads directly to ticket sales.
