When Michelangelo had his five-and-a-half-metre-high block of marble delivered -and how that flash delivery man must have cursed- he knew: my masterpiece, the David, is already in it. I need only chop away what it is not, and the work of art will appear. So did Andries Tunru. Joyfully and energetically, he chisels away what does not matter. He breaks open the sometimes centuries-old rock and chops, lumbers and saws until nothing but the core remains. Not with chisels and hammers, but with the tools he masters so well: razor-sharp jokes, effervescent stories and stunning improvisations. The autobiographical Marble is Andries' most personal performance to date. About a grease-fearing stepfather, household items flying around the room and being brought up with the somewhat botched "feather game". The performance received ★★★★★, and was even awarded "Critic's Choice" by Theaterkrant
